Hi, I'm

Rich Nicholson

Engineer turned product leader. I bridge engineering problems and software, and I'm increasingly using AI to close that gap myself.

About

I studied Engineering at Cambridge, and I've spent the best part of three decades since across a range of industries — from autonomous aircraft to motorsport simulation at McLaren Racing. Currently I'm Head of Product Management in the Software & Data Science department.

I'm an engineer at heart — I understand physics, I know what good software looks like, and I can write requirements that translate directly into working systems. Over time I've gravitated towards product management, where that technical depth makes a real difference. The rise of agentic AI has changed things further — I can now go from problem to working code myself, and that's a space I'm spending more and more time in.

Outside of work, I'm a runner with Elmbridge Road Runners and I write about engineering, AI, running, and whatever else I find interesting.

Project One

A brief description of the project — what it does, why you built it, and what makes it interesting.

Python FastAPI PostgreSQL

Project Two

Another project description. Keep it concise — two or three sentences is plenty.

JavaScript Node.js

Project Three

One more project to round out the grid. Add or remove cards as you see fit.
